on the road again

How does time go by so quickly?!  I’m headed back to Michigan today and part of me is looking forward to seeing friends/Simon and part of me wishes I didn’t have to go.  I will miss my family so!

Yesterday, we spent time going through my mom’s stuff.  It was good spending quality time with my sister and dad but it was difficult as well.  My mom still had so many plans and projects to finish.  We all struggled.  Then the question, do we keep everything?  Of course we can’t and we went through and marked what we wanted to keep and the rest went into a “sell” pile.  Ugh.  I tried to think of the enjoyment someone else would find in it rather than it sitting and collecting dust.  This definitely helped.  However, I did voice my hesitation on my decision to do this on my last night home!

In order to alleviate a bit of our heavy hearts, I made big, fat cinnamon rolls.  I used this recipe.

I then made a delish cream cheese frosting and slathered these beauties to perfection!

Indeed, these were comfort eating extraordinaire!  Yes, I realize eating my emotions is a trap and I’ll moan about my saddlebags later BUT for today, it was necessary.  I don’t regret it.  My sis took a couple home for the kiddies and then we brought the rest over to my uncles.  Phew!

I’m sure my dad will miss my epic ability to make messes most of all – I think I have reached level “expert”.  Sometimes, when I look around at the disasters I manage to create, I am a bit in awe.  It’s a gift.  It also helps that my dad has a dishwasher so I could dirty bowl after bowl and they magically get cleaned!  Wahooo!

this is only part of it... and I had tidied up once

I’ll miss these little hooligans as well

I think Chloe would be mad this pic isn't better of her but she wouldn't stand still!

Maggie May (the dog) is such a sweetie, Frank (the gray cat) is a troublemaker but makes me laugh and Chloe is the princess of the house.  Maggie and Frank fight over this blue blanket I put down for them and neither my dad nor I can figure it out!  It is fun to watch though!

Alright… I’ve got a 3 hour drive to the airport and then I’ll jump to the future to the exotic land of South Bend.  Oh and look what Kalamazoo has to offer me as a welcome home present?

I've been spoiled here in the PNW!
